An often-overlooked concern in the Upcountry estates is the lack of access to clean water. This affects many schools and households. Families, including school children, often traverse considerable distances to secure clean water.

In response, the Manitha Neyam Trust, in collaboration with the International Medical & Health Organization (IMHO) in Sri Lanka, has successfully implemented a project aimed at enhancing water supply in three schools situated in the Upcot, Watawala, and Maskeliya areas.

Building on this success, the Trust is currently in the process of launching a larger-scale initiative to address the water needs of a community comprising of 500 individuals. This comprehensive project includes the construction of a mini-reservoir, installation of pipelines, and the establishment of a state-of-the-art water treatment facility. These measures are designed to ensure that the water quality aligns with global health standards, marking a significant stride towards alleviating the water challenges faced by the community.

We are so thankful to our donors for lending their support to enable us to implement this larger-scale solution for communities in need!
