Water scarcity is a pervasive problem in the Northern region, especially made worse during the dry season. Access to clean, fresh water is a human right, and unfortunately, there is no infrastructure in this region to provide water to communities readily.
Late last year, MNT funded the drilling of a tube well to meet the water needs of a disabled community in the village of Kompavil, Vavuniya. Another tube well was donated to a family in need, in Adampan, Mannar to support the irrigation requirements for their farm. A third tube well was also built in Chulipuram, Jaffna to help two families with young children.
We are delighted to fund these tube well projects in Northern Sri Lanka for those in real need of water. A heartfelt thanks to our partners in the area and our generous donors for making these projects possible.
