In a significant initiative to bolster education in the upcountry communities, 50 teachers have been appointed on a contract basis.
This initiative has been spearheaded by the International Medical Health Organization (IMHO) and Manitha Neyam Trust (MNT), and received the active participation of Honorable Lalith U. Gamaghe, Governor of Central Province.
A ceremony to inaugurate this initiative was held at the Central Province Governor’s House, Kandy, on May 29th, 2024. Attendees included key figures such as Honorable Menaka Herath, Secretary of the Chief and Education Ministry Central Province, along with the Governor’s office Secretary, Assistant Secretary of Education Ministry, and other Education Ministry officers. Mr. R. Wijendran, Zonal Education Director, also graced the event.
Representatives from IMHO, including Mr. Kandiah Vigneshwaran and M.P. Chandraseharan was present at this event. The appointment of these graduate teachers aims to enhance educational outcomes in schools in the area, providing much-needed support and resources for the education of community members.
