All of us know about the noble services of Sivapoomi trust and the assistance of Manitha Neyam Trust in helping Sivapoomi to effectively continue its services. We have published articles about many Sivapoomi services including Sivapoomi school, Sivapoomi elders’ home, etc. In this edition, we would like to share one more gem in the crown, which is the Sivapoomi Vocational Training school.
We have all heard the famous quote “Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish and You Feed Him for a Lifetime”. As an apt example for the above quote, Sivapoomi not only takes care of the children with special needs and intellectual disability, Sivapoomi Trust also trains them to integrate into working society, by providing them vocational training in various industries. A lot of these children are trained in and run the printing section of the school for newspapers, and they make oil lamps and candles and supply to the market. In the long run, it will help the children to get employment opportunities elsewhere.
Sivapoomi Vocational Training School building was gifted to the school by the founder of MNT, Late Mr. Kailasapillai. We will provide more updates about the Vocational Training School and success stories in upcoming articles.
