The number of people with limb loss in the North of Sri Lanka continues to increase. This is not only due to the need to repair and replace the prosthetic limbs of the war victims, but also due to untreated disease like diabetes, and road traffic accidents.
The Trust has built a new partnership with the Meththa Foundation to supply “state-of-the-art” prosthetic limbs to beneficiaries in the Vanni region.
Since its inception in April 2021, until December 2023, despite the disruptions of the pandemic and the economic crisis, 15 mobile clinics have been conducted in Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Mannar. Over 400 people have attended these clinics, out of whom, 210 were new beneficiaries. 150 new limbs have been created and fitted, and 120 limbs have been taken under repair for refitting.
We look forward to seeing many more people benefit from these prosthetic limbs and improve their quality of life. We appreciate our donors for generously supporting us, so that we can continue to serve these communities.
