Thunukai in the Mullaitivu District is a rural part of Sri Lanka. In this community, many working parents of autistic children don’t have access to childcare or special education. Often, they had to leave their special needs child locked in the house, without any other options.

Seeing this, is how ‘Olirum Vaalvu’ was born. It is a school that runs Monday-Friday, for autistic children. The children are picked up and dropped off at their homes at the end of the day.  The staff members have created an environment so lively and beneficial, that parents say the children look forward to the bus coming to pick them up every morning.

MNT has been able to support this school thanks to our many donors generosity, to open access to education for special needs kids in this community. We thank you for the continued support!
