The political and economic crisis in Sri Lanka has affected lots of mid-lower income earning families around the country, such as the daily-wage workers and farmers.

In order to support their household and help them grow their own food, Manitha Neyam Trust initiated a home gardening project in Koraveli village.  25 farmers were selected for the initial support, and as the first step MNT provided them the necessary equipment, seeds, and plants.

MNT also arranged a 3-day workshop to educate them on the home farming concepts, and the area agriculture inspector will monitor and provide necessary directions to the farmers.

We believe this project will help the beneficiaries to grow their own family’s vegetable requirement and later they will be able to monetize the excess production
