Established in 2002, Sakthi Illam has been a home for children affected by civil war, natural disaster, and other socioeconomic causes. Currently, 56 children are receiving the loving, family atmosphere at Sakthi Illam. All the children are looked after and provided with education support, tuition classes, computer labs, garden, dance classes, and sports facilities.
We always say, education is the passport for our kids to the future. Miss Aarani and Miss Janani from California agreed, and decided to shower their love to Sakthi Illam children by the way of educating them. They conducted English classes to the children via Zoom, with over 50 hours of English education provided during the period.
They covered topics such as:
- Reading
- Harry potter
- Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library – Book series
- English (O/L Exam- Paper Discussion)
- New technologies
- Games
They also initiated a fundraiser and donated 3 laptops, 3 Chrome books and 4 Kindle tabs to the children.
We are grateful and proud of the younger generation for donating their time to lift up other kids in Sri Lanka!
