Manitha Neyam Trust continues to provide relief to families affected by the nationwide shutdown in Sri Lanka. A curfew implemented across the country, has made containment of this disease easier for public health officials. However, daily wage workers, the majority in many rural areas, are out of work without access to a source of income.
MNT has been able to provide relief in the form of food, so hundreds of families could still put food on the table. This week, we were able to share some relief packs to families in the Mannar district.
We were able to cover 12 villages in Mannar District, where over 100 families received the relief packs, including pantry/shelf-stable items like rice and lentils.
We acknowledge that there are more people who are struggling to find a single meal for a day as they have no means of income due to the current pandemic situation. At present, we heavily depend on donations from helping hands across the globe, and have to carefully monitor the curfew lifts to be able to disperse these relief packages to as many families as possible in such a short period of time. We expect to continue our relief donations with the support of the donors and volunteers, and are grateful to all of your support.
