Recent MNT Projects in Eastern Province – July 20, 2025

The Manitha Neyam Trust (MNT) has funded several impactful educational projects across the Eastern Province, focusing on improving learning environments and building community resilience.
*Technology Upskilling Projects*
MNT established the Smart Classrooms at multiple schools, including Vinayagapuram Maha Vidyalayam in Thirukkovil, and Pottuvil, Amparai, Methodist Tamil Mahavidyalayam in Pottuvil, Amparai and Thiruvallalar Maha Vidyalayam in Poonakar – Echchilampattu, Trinco. All of these are to provide rural students with modern technological learning tools.
*Notebooks to Rural Schools Children*
Additionally, to various schools in rural areas of the Eastern Province, students were provided with new notebooks to write in during school. School supplies are typically limited in these areas, as many of these children come from underserved communities. Providing school supplies lessens the burden on their families, and helps them retain their education.
*Rural School Infrastructure Support*
At Kachchakoddi Swamy Malai Vidyalayam, MNT provided three rolls of fencing wire and five whiteboards to address safety and learning needs. Working through SPM Foundation and guided by Swamy Rishi Thondunathan, these contributions created a safer learning environment for children from low-income families.
*Community Resilience Initiative*
At BT/KK/Mathurankernikulam G.T.M.S. School in Vaharai, MNT supported the coastal Veddha community through SPM Foundation’s “Root to Resilience” initiative. The foundation conducted needs assessments and led workshops to build knowledge and climate resilience.
Through these diverse initiatives, MNT continues to address both immediate needs and long-term educational development across the Eastern Province, working closely with local partners to create lasting positive change in underserved communities.
