Vision and Mission

Since its inception nearly 25 years ago, the Trust has focused on long term life cycle and societal development initiatives to promote self-sufficiency, education and employment whilst stepping in with relief efforts whenever a specific need is identified.

We have always attempted to take a strategic approach to our portfolio of projects exploring the following drivers.

A) Geographical reach: Our projects have focused on the vulnerable populations in the Northeast of Sri Lanka and the upcountry region whilst also ensuring that any needs in Colombo and other areas as well as in our donor communities in the UK and USA are also supported.

B) Relief, Rehabilitation and Development: Our projects have also covered a range of Relief, Rehabilitation and Developmental efforts.

Relief has always been provided when vulnerable communities were affected during the period of the civil war, natural disasters such as the Tsunami and the Covid Pandemic and the current economic crisis.

Rehabilitation of segments of the population disadvantaged by physical or mental disabilities and by advancing age has also remained as a priority area for the Trust.

We have over the years increased our focus on Developmental projects whereby vulnerable and disadvantaged communities are aided through education and employment opportunities to enhance their role as useful citizens of society. We have also helped develop institutions critical to the economic, social and cultural well being of communities.

C) Life Cycle Management: The portfolio of projects has also aimed in supporting populations across the full life cycle; ie “from cradle to grave”. Therefore, our projects have targeted pregnant mothers and newborn, preschool and school going children, youth embarking on university and vocational education, needs of adults including the empowerment of women and the elderly.

D) Functional Areas: Our strategic approach to the portfolio focused on some key functional areas of importance to sustainable living and self-sufficiency. These areas include the addressing of Health and Medical needs, enhancing Education at all levels, increasing opportunities for Employment, Livelihood support and Holistic wellbeing.
